Pres submits bill on PM, mins approval by State Duma

MOSCOW, Jan 20 (PRIME) -- Russia’s prime minister and ministers shall be appointed by the president after approval by the State Duma, the lower chamber of the parliament, according to a draft amendment to the constitution prepared by the president, seen by PRIME on Monday.

“In order to raise effectiveness of cooperation between the representative and executive branches of power, raise the role of the State Duma and parliamentary parties, and in order to raise responsibility of the members of parliament of the Russian Federation, amendments to the stipulations of the Constitution of the Russian Federation setting the proceedings of appointment of the chairman of the government of the Russian Federation, his deputies, are proposed to be introduced, in accordance with which the candidates for appointment to the posts are appointed by the president of the Russian Federation after their approval by the State Duma,” the document read.
